**Ukraine Strikes Russian Command Post in Kursk Oblast**
The Ukrainian Armed Forces conducted a precision strike on a Russian army command post in Maryino, Kursk Oblast. The General Staff reported this on January 2.
The target was the 810th Russian Brigade, and Ukraine’s counter-disinformation center said there were significant losses. Local Telegram channels had earlier reported shelling in Ivanovskoye, with damage to a boarding school, post office, shopping center, residential buildings, and a house of culture.
**Ukraine Downed Two Russian Helicopters**
Two Russian helicopters were downed by Ukraine’s naval strike drones, the HUR (Ukrainian military intelligence agency) reported. The drones used SeeDragon missiles. Russia had earlier admitted to losing two helicopters.
The Magura V5 drone has been a key tool for Ukraine in fighting against Russia’s Black Sea Fleet. It can travel over 800 kilometers and carry a warhead of up to 250 kilograms.
**Kyiv to Review Ground Forces Command**
Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced that the country will conduct a comprehensive review of the Ground Forces command. The review aims to evaluate management structures, processes, and compliance with legislation.
The review comes after plans for fundamental reforms were unveiled by newly appointed Ground Forces Commander General Mykhailo Drapatyi. The reforms aim to strengthen the branch and enhance battlefield effectiveness.
**Russian Attacks Against Ukraine**
Over the past day, Russian attacks against Ukraine wounded six people and killed four others. Two civilians were killed and six injured in Kherson Oblast following Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure.
One person was also killed overnight in the town of Stepnohirsk in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and another in the city of Mirnohrad in Donetsk Oblast. Ukraine’s air defense shot down 47 drones and forced an additional 24 to veer off course without casualties.
