**Ukraine Shoots Down Most of Russia’s Missiles and Drones**
The Ukrainian air defenses successfully shot down 102 out of 120 missiles and 42 out of 90 drones launched by Russia overnight on November 17. This was one of the heaviest aerial strikes against Ukraine since the full-scale war began.
Russia used a large number of planes, including bombers and fighter jets, to attack Ukraine’s energy grid. The country’s air defenses were active in nearly all regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, Odesa, and Lviv.
**Missile and Drone Attack**
Russia launched various types of missiles and drones against Ukraine, including hypersonic 3M22 Zirkon missiles and Kinzhal missiles. However, Ukraine’s air defenses shot down the Zirkon missile, all of the Kinzhal missiles, as well as other types of missiles.
**Losses**
Forty-one drones were lost across Ukraine due to “active countermeasures.” Two drones flew back to Russia and occupied territories. At least seven civilians were killed and 19 injured in multiple regions during the attack.
**President Zelensky’s Statement**
President Volodymyr Zelensky praised Ukraine’s air defense forces, aviation, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare units for their coordinated efforts during the attack. He also mentioned that Ukrainian F-16 fighter jets shot down almost 10 aerial targets on November 17.
