**Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry Reacts to Slovak PM Fico’s Remarks**
The Ukrainian government has summoned the Slovak Ambassador, Pavel Vizdal, after Prime Minister Robert Fico made threatening statements against Ukraine. This comes amid tensions between Ukraine and Slovakia.
Fico, who is friendly with Russia, had previously called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “the enemy” of Slovakia. Ukraine expressed its disappointment over Fico’s remarks, accusing him of acting as a mouthpiece for the Kremlin while ignoring Slovakia’s EU membership.
**Slovakia Summons Ukrainian Ambassador**
Earlier, on January 29, the Slovak Foreign Ministry summoned Ukrainian Ambassador Myroslav Kastran to deliver a strong protest against what it called Ukrainian interference in Slovakia’s internal affairs. This move follows Fico’s criticism of Zelensky and Ukraine.
Zelensky had voiced support for protests against Fico’s government, saying “Bratislava is not Moscow, Slovakia is Europe.” The protests saw around 100,000 people across 30 cities demanding an end to Fico’s leadership.
**Escalating Tensions**
Fico has threatened to limit aid to Ukrainians and cut electricity supplies amid an energy crisis caused by Russian attacks on Ukraine’s power grid. His friendly stance toward the Kremlin has drawn condemnation from European leaders.
