Sources claim that 57 Russian military jets, helicopters and fighters were present during the attack.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed the attack against the Russian Adygea Airbase on 10th October. They stated, “Tonight a fire strike took place on the Khanskaya Airfield in the Republic of Adygea of the Russian Federation.” The ammunition depot on the military facility’s territory was specifically targeted. “The target area was marked by enemy air defense activity, and ignition was also recorded.”
In the past year, Ukraine has intensified drone attacks on military and fuel facilities in Russia, causing a significant disruption of fuel and ammunition supplies for the Russian military. These attacks were mainly directed at Russian bomb storages located in airbases deep within Russia.
Ukrinform cited sources in the Security Service of Ukraine as saying that 57 Russian combat aircraft and training helicopters, including Su-34s, Su-35s, and Mi-8s, were on the airfield at the time of attack. Satellite monitoring has confirmed that large-scale detonations and fires have occurred. The extent of damage is still unknown, but it is known that 57 Russian combat and training aircraft were present at the airfield during the attack. These included Su-34, Su35, Mi-8, as well as other types.
According to agency sources this airfield is located 450 km away from the frontline and has been used by Russia for refueling, missile and bomb attacks on Ukrainian defense forces, and populated areas.
Ukrinform was informed by a Ukrainian military intelligence source that the Khanskaya Airfield is home to the Russian 272nd Polotsk Aviation Training Base of 2nd Category of the Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation School.
