Ukraine’s HUR launches cyberattack on Russian university training drone operators

UkrInform reported that the of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense carried out a cyberattack against the network infrastructure of North Caucasus Federal University. The university trains drone operators, digital communication specialists, and engineers to serve in the Russian occupying army.
The Russian army launches called Shahed against Ukraine almost daily. The attacks are aimed at critical infrastructure and buildings. The Ukrainian military is slowly destroying the bases in which the Russians store drones as well as production facilities where invaders make them.
The North Caucasus Federal University provides support to seven institutes and several in multiple regions of Russia. The cyber operation compromised university’s internal infrastructure, destroying databases, websites, and file storage totaling over 150 terabytes.
According to the source HUR hackers have attacked 11 websites and over 7,000 computers. They also targeted 135 servers and storage systems.
Cyberattacks were launched against additional Russian internet resources, including file storage systems, to divert attention away from the main attack. After gaining access, a leaflet supporting offensive operations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was posted on the compromised websites.
By executing cyberspace special intelligence tasks, the operation weakened both the educational and scientific foundation of the aggressor state and its capacity to train military experts.
After weeks of planning, the special mission, which killed dozens of elite , led to full Ukrainian control over the Vovchansk Agregate Plant.
