Russian Fuel Supplies in Trouble
Ukraine says it has damaged or destroyed one-third of Russia‘s fuel sector facilities that supply the Russian military. This means less fuel is available for Russia’s war efforts.
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry‘s intelligence agency says these targets were not civilian buildings, but oil refineries and storage facilities that sell petroleum products and fund aggression against Ukraine. Dozens of Ukrainian operations have hit Russian oil refineries since early 2024.
Many Russian oil refineries are struggling to get back to normal after being targeted by Ukraine. Some have partially stopped working due to incomplete repairs. This is because sanctions make it hard for Russia to import the equipment needed to fix these facilities.
