Russian forces had been trying to establish a bridgehead on the other side of the river, but Ukrainian troops were able to force them out with and drone support. The western bank of the Oskil River is now under Ukrainian control.

President Volodymyr Zelensky has disputed reports in Western media that as many as 80,000 have been killed during the full-scale war with Russia. While refusing to provide a detailed number of casualties, Zelensky said the actual number is “less, much less” than reported.
