**Ukraine Launches Cyber Attack on Gazprom**
A cyber attack was launched against Russian gas company Gazprom and its subsidiary Gazpromneft. The attack was carried out by Ukrainian specialists from the Military Intelligence Agency (HUR) on January 29.
The attack used a technique called distributed denial-of-service (DDoS), which severely disrupted Gazprom’s digital services. This made it difficult for customers to access their accounts, pay for fuel, and use other online services.
**A Message from Ukraine**
The HUR agency said that the attack was a message of support for Ukrainian cadets who fought against Bolshevik forces in 1918. The Battle of Kruty took place on January 29, 1918, and ended with the defeat of the Ukrainian troops. The HUR agency saw its cyber attack as a way to continue this fight, but in cyberspace.
**Gazprom Refuses to Comment**
Gazprom described the incident as a “temporary technical glitch” without providing any details or saying when it would be resolved. Cyber attacks have become common during the war between Ukraine and Russia, with both sides using them against each other.
