**Russia Fails to Outflank Key Ukrainian Town**
The Russian army is struggling to outmaneuver a crucial logistics hub in Ukraine, according to a spokesperson for the country‘s forces.
Viktor Trehubov, a representative of Ukraine’s Khortytsia group, said on January 24 that Russia had failed to bypass the town of Pokrovsk from the north and south. The area has been the focus of fierce fighting in recent months as Russia intensifies its offensive in Donetsk Oblast.
Despite attempts to surround the town with long-range missiles and drones, Russian forces have so far been unable to cut off Pokrovsk’s logistics routes, Trehubov said.
“This is the main point of concentration of their efforts, and it has been for a long time. There are the largest number of clashes there,” he added.
**Russia Continues Push on Multiple Fronts**
Ukraine’s General Staff reported that Russian troops were continuing to push forward on several axes, including Lyman, Siversk, Kramatorsk, Toretsk, and Kurakhove. Pokrovsk and Kurakhove remain the focal points of Russia’s eastern offensive.
The war in Ukraine has entered its fifth month, with Moscow seeking a ban on Ukraine’s entry to NATO as a key condition for resolving the conflict.
**Global Response**
Meanwhile, North Korea is reportedly preparing to send more troops to Russia to fuel the war effort. The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff reported significant losses despite the reinforcements.
The international community remains divided over how to respond to the crisis, with U.S. President Donald Trump calling for a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin to end the war.
**Humanitarian Crisis Deepens**
The conflict has claimed numerous lives and injured many more, including two people killed in a drone attack on Kyiv Oblast overnight.
Regional authorities reported at least six people killed and nine injured by Russian attacks over the past day.
