**Ukrainian Forces Repel Russian Assaults in Donetsk Oblast**
Ukrainian troops are fighting back against Russian attacks near several villages in Donetsk Oblast. The Khortytsia group of forces said on December 13 that they were taking necessary measures to prevent being surrounded.
The area, which includes Uspenivka, Hannivka, Trudove, and Romanivka, is considered a high-risk zone for Ukrainian units being encircled. Russian forces have reportedly gained control of key roads between Uspenivka and Hannivka, putting Ukrainian troops in the “Uspenivka pocket” at risk.
**Battlefield Situation Critical**
The DeepState monitoring group reported on December 12 that Russian forces were intensifying their assault on Uspenivka. The sector is located near occupied Donetsk and about 40 kilometers south of the town of Pokrovsk.
Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi has described the ongoing Russian offensive as “one of the most powerful” since the full-scale invasion began. Ukrainian troops have been fighting back against Russian advances in southern Donetsk Oblast throughout the autumn.
**Ukrainian Military Takes Necessary Measures**
The Khortytsia group cautioned against emotional interpretations of the battlefield situation, saying that such reactions could complicate the situation and benefit Russian forces. According to official reports, Ukrainian troops repelled Russian assaults on the outskirts of settlements near Uspenivka.
