Andriy Yeermak confirmed that the Ukrainian Presidential Office is working get Western approval for a targeted attack on Russian military infrastructure.
According to UkrInform, Andrii is the head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office. He says that Ukrainian authorities are working to ensure permissions for using long-range Western weaponry to strike deep into Russian territories.
Yermak’s statements were made response to journalists’ questions about the proximity of Ukraine to receiving such approvals.
Russia launches guided bombs and drones called Shahed on Ukrainian cities and villages every day. Ukraine wants to stop this by attacking Russian bases, airports, drone and ammunition depots. It needs to get approval from its allies before it can carry out strikes in Russia using weapons provided by the West.
“This is an extremely sensitive issue. I confirm that this is a very important issue for us and we will not stop working on it. We are working -stop to ensure that Ukraine is strong enough to respond to on its territory. Let’s wait until the decision. “The main thing is to see how Ukraine is growing in strength and the on front lines,” Yermak stated.
He said that the Ukrainian authorities do not waste a single hour or day, but use every moment to advance Ukraine’s interests in Western Europe.
When asked about a postponed meeting in the “Ramstein” format, Yermak replied that a new date was not yet known.
The meeting of the Ukraine Contact Group (also known as ), scheduled for 12th October at the Ramstein Air Base, , was postponed earlier after US President Joe Biden decided to cancel his visit to Germany.
Biden is said to be focusing on the extreme weather conditions in Florida, preparations of Hurricane Milton, and efforts to provide relief following a recent hurricane that claimed more than 200 lives.
“I still hope that this meeting will take place and a date is set soon.” “I ‘t think we should wait, but rather take every day and opportunity to advance Ukraine’s interests,” he said.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte had earlier emphasized the importance of the upcoming “Ramstein” meeting at the leadership level, but noted that the decision on whether to allow strikes deep into Russia would come from each NATO member individually, and not from the Alliance.
