**Ukrainian Doctor Nears End of Exams to Practice in the UK**
Anna Pinchuk, a 39-year-old cardiologist from Ukraine, is close to completing exams that would allow her to practice medicine in the UK. She fled Ukraine with her daughter Sofiia three years ago due to the Russian invasion.
**A Desperate Decision**
Dr. Pinchuk made the decision to leave Kyiv with her seven-year-old daughter Sofiia in March 2022, after many people died and buildings were destroyed. She was worried about her child’s safety. “It was really scary being responsible for my child,” she said.
**A New Life in Devon**
Dr. Pinchuk and Sofiia stayed in Germany until June 2022 before moving to Devon, where a family took them in. Dr. Pinchuk has been studying hard to pass her exams, which take an average of three years to complete.
**Grateful for Support**
Dr. Pinchuk thanked Refugee Support Devon for their help with her occupational English test. The charity also helped 40 other professionals from around the world, including doctors and nurses, prepare for their exams.
**Uncertainty in Ukraine**
Dr. Pinchuk spoke about the unpredictability of life in Ukraine, where “everything is very changeable and unreliable.” She worries that even if the war stops for a while, it could start again at any moment.
