**Russia Uses Chemical Weapons in Ukraine**
The Ukrainian military has documented 4,800 incidents of chemical weapons use against its forces since the war started. This includes tear gas and other chemicals meant for riot control.
These attacks are often hidden by Russian forces under artillery fire and bomb attacks. It makes it hard to track and investigate these cases.
**Servicemen Treated**
More than 2,000 Ukrainian servicemen have been treated for chemical poisoning since the invasion began. Some of them showed symptoms of severe exposure.
Sadly, there have been three fatal cases so far. The use of a type of tear gas called K–51 has decreased due to colder temperatures making it less effective.
**Russia Breaks Rules**
The Russian military’s use of chemical weapons is against international law. Ukraine follows the Chemical Weapons Convention and does not use such means.
The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) confirmed that riot control agents have been used on the battlefield in Ukraine. They reported that Russian drones dropped gas grenades into Ukrainian positions, making soldiers vulnerable to attacks.
