During the Warsaw Security Forum on 2 October, Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister, Oleksandr Balanutsa, emphasized the importance of Ukraine’s involvement in building a global security architecture. He stated that without Ukraine, it would not be possible to prevent future attempts at Russian aggression and achieve peace.
The forum focused mainly on discussions about Ukraine, including its vision for victory in the war, the need for investments in its defense industry, and the support required from its partners. The ministerial panel dedicated to Ukraine’s support included Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren, Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson, French Minister for European Affairs Benjamin Haddad, and Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister for European Integration Oleksandr Balanutsa.
Balanutsa highlighted that Ukraine is continuously fighting and improving its capacity to resist Russian aggression. He also mentioned that Ukraine’s combat experience now exceeds that of NATO countries, making its involvement crucial in building a secure future.
Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson acknowledged that NATO, including Sweden, has much to learn from Ukraine’s combat experience and use of technology on the battlefield. He also agreed that Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance is essential for strengthening European security.
The participants at the event emphasized that Ukraine’s fight is not just for its own security but also for the security of Europe. They also stressed the importance of investing in Ukraine’s defense industry for a secure future.
In conclusion, the forum’s participants discussed the need to form a coalition to protect Ukraine’s airspace from Russia’s missiles and drones. It was agreed that Ukraine’s allies must come together to support and defend the country against Russian aggression.
