**New Vehicle Aims to Help Clear Ukraine’s Mines**
Ukraine has a big problem: much of its territory is contaminated with mines and explosive remnants of war. This is due to the ongoing conflict with Russia. The area affected is huge, covering over 144,000 square kilometers.
**A Solution?**
To help address this issue, Ukrainian developers have created a new machine called MP.5100. It’s designed to neutralize all types of mines by destroying or detonating them in the soil at depths of up to 30 cm. The vehicle is based on modern domestic equipment and was developed over one year in Kharkiv.
**How Does it Work?**
The MP.5100 has a working tool that can be equipped with different devices, such as a rotating chain device with hammers or a milling cutter. It operates at speeds of 0.5 to 1.5 km per hour and has a clearing width of 2.5 meters.
**Technical Details**
The machine is powered by a 320-horsepower engine and consumes about 55 liters of fuel per hour. It can operate for at least four hours on a single tank of fuel. The operator controls the machine via a remote control from a distance of at least 350 meters.
**Cost and Production**
An MP.5100 costs approximately €450,000. This is expected to be more affordable than importing similar vehicles. The manufacturer plans to certify the vehicle in early 2025 and aims to produce three to four units per month.
