**Ukrainian Draft Officer Attacked in Lviv Oblast**
A Ukrainian draft officer was seriously injured on February 17 in the city of Zhovkva, Lviv Oblast. The officer was escorting two mobilized individuals to a medical evaluation when they were attacked by two unidentified people.
The attack happened at around 11:45 a.m. local time. The draft officer was cut by an unknown sharp object and suffered lacerations. The suspects fled the scene and are still at large. The injured officer’s current status is unknown.
**Investigation Launched**
A criminal investigation has been opened into the incident. Investigators believe that the motive behind the attack was to help one of the escorted conscripts escape the draft officer.
This is not an isolated incident. In recent weeks, there have been several attacks against military enlistment officers in Ukraine.
**Recent Attacks on Military Enlistment Officers**
On February 12, a Ukrainian Armed Forces service member was injured in a violent attack at a military enlistment office in Kharkiv.
In another incident, Russia was found to have recruited the perpetrator of an explosion at a draft office in Rivne on February 1 that injured eight service members and killed the suspected bomber.
On January 31, a draft officer was shot dead in Poltava Oblast. The perpetrator was detained soon after.
**Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Condemns Attacks**
Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, condemned the recent attacks and called for a full investigation and prosecution of those responsible.
The attack on the draft officer in Lviv Oblast highlights the challenges Ukraine faces in mobilizing troops amid battlefield losses and the need to rotate soldiers who have been on the front lines since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
