**Ukrainian Drones Attack Russian Oil Refinery**
Last night, Ukrainian drones attacked an oil refinery in the city of Syzran in Russia’s Samara Oblast. The attack happened around 3 a.m. local time.
A fire broke out at the facility as a result of the explosions. Russian forces downed the drones and claimed there were no casualties. However, the details are not clear yet.
**The Refinery**
The Syzran Oil Refinery is owned by Rosneft, Russia’s state-owned oil company. It has a capacity to produce 8.9 million tons of oil per year. The refinery produces fuel, aviation kerosene, and bitumen, among other products.
This is not the first time the refinery has been attacked. Ukrainian drones also targeted it on February 19, causing a fire.
**Why Ukraine Targets Russian Oil Facilities**
Ukraine considers Russian oil facilities to be valid military targets. This is because fossil fuel profits help fund Moscow‘s war machine. As a result, the Ukrainian military has launched repeated attacks against Russian refineries using long-range drones.
