**Ukrainian Drones Attack Russian Aviation Plant**
A Ukrainian drone attack hit the Smolensk Aviation Plant in western Russia on January 21. The plant caught fire, but no one was hurt.
Russian authorities confirmed a drone attack in Smolensk Oblast. They said their air defenses shot down 55 drones overnight, including 10 in that area.
The Governor of Smolensk Oblast, Vasily Anokhin, said fallen drone debris caused fires and damaged windows on residential buildings. He also warned people about fake information on social media.
Two high-rise buildings were damaged, but no one was hurt. The Ukrainian military did not comment on the attack.
Smolensk Aviation Plant makes and modernizes Su-25 military aircraft. It’s located near the Russia-Belarus border, just 60 kilometers (35 miles) east of it.
**Other Attacks**
On the same night, an oil depot in Voronezh Oblast caught fire due to fallen drone debris. Ukrainian drones had attacked this facility before, on January 16.
Ukrainian drones often target Russian military and industrial sites to weaken their ability to wage war in Ukraine.
