**Russia Launches Massive Missile Attack on Ukraine on Christmas Day**
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, said that the massive bombardment of Ukraine by Russia on December 25 was a response from Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to politicians who spoke about an illusory Christmas truce.
**Continuous Air Attacks on Residential Areas**
Russia has been deliberately targeting residential areas and civilian infrastructure with daily air attacks since October 2022. The aim is to disrupt civilian life, especially during the winter months. Ukraine’s energy facilities have been systematically targeted by extensive missile and drone assaults.
**Threat to Neighboring Countries**
According to Sybiha, one of the Russian missiles even flew over the airspace of two other countries, highlighting that Russia poses a threat not only to Ukraine but also to its neighbors.
**Rejection of Proposed Ceasefire**
On December 11, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had a phone conversation with Putin about the war in Ukraine. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that discussions about the war cannot take place without Kyiv‘s involvement. The proposal for a “Christmas ceasefire” and prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine was rejected by Ukraine.
**Russia Launches Over 170 Missiles and Drones**
On December 25, Russia launched over 70 missiles and more than 100 attack drones at Ukrainian cities on Christmas Day. Due to this attack, Poland put its combat aircraft on alert.
**Loss of Life in the Attack**
A worker at one of Ukraine’s largest energy companies, DTEK, was killed in the strike. The company revealed that he was 51 years old and had dedicated over 30 years to his profession.
