**Ukrainians Repel Russian Assault**
The Ukrainian army fought back against a group of Russian soldiers near the town of Kurdiumivka. They were able to capture one soldier, who was from Egypt.
This happened in Donetsk Oblast, which is a region in eastern Ukraine. The 28th Mechanized Brigade said they published a video on December 26 showing the battle and the Egyptian soldier being captured. However, they did not say exactly when the fight took place.
Russia has been struggling to find enough soldiers because of heavy losses in Ukraine. To solve this problem, they have started hiring mercenaries from countries that are having economic troubles. These countries include some in Asia and Africa. Russia often promises these men non-combat jobs, but it’s not true.
The Russian soldiers tried to sneak up on the Ukrainian army by using fog for cover. But the Ukrainians were ready and fought back with strong fire at close range. They were able to stop the Russians’ attack.
