The Ukrainian game “S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl” is now one of the most popular games on the Xbox platform. The game was released by developer GSC Game World on November 20.

In just two days, the game sold over one million copies. It also reached a high of 117,000 concurrent players on Steam. This makes it the most successful Ukrainian game on the platform to date.
**Reaching the Top in Less Than a Week**
The new “S.T.A.L.K.E.R.” game took less than a week to break into the top three games on the Xbox platform. It even surpassed Minecraft, which had been at the top for years. Other popular games like Roblox, GTA 5, and EA FC 25 also fell behind.
**Internet Problems After Release**
The game’s release caused problems with internet connections in Ukraine as many users tried to download it at once.
**Game Credits Dedicated to Ukrainian Defenders**
In the game’s credits, developer GSC Game World dedicated “S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl” to those who are defending Ukraine. The message read:
“…Ukraine will endure and stand strong… Dedicated to all who have defended and continue to defend Ukraine.”
**Developer Killed in Action**
One of the series’ original developers, Volodymyr Yezhov, was killed in action while defending Ukraine near Bakhmut in December 2022. This underlines the personal cost of the Russian invasion for the gaming industry.
