At a press briefing in Kyiv, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sbiha announced that Russia will be able produce 30% more artillery rounds than all EU members combined next year.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, if there’s no proper response, or prevention, Russia could produce 30% more artillery than all the countries in the European Union put together, he said, as reported by Ukrinform.
Sybiha demanded international action to limit Russia’s industrial capability.
“First, I’m referring to the Shadow Fleet, which helps Russia to circumvent sanctions and continue trading energy resources, such as oil. He said that it was important to focus on this aspect when strengthening the EU’s policy of sanctions against our allies.
The ammunition shortage in Ukraine has been a concern for many years, but it has gotten worse this year. The EU failed to meet its promise to produce one million artillery rounds between March 2023-2024, while disagreements in Washington caused a major delay in a $61 Billion aid package.
Several countries have supported a Czech initiative to procure 800 000 shells for Ukraine, which was proposed in February of this year. In March, the EU allocated $500 million ($544 million) to boost the EU’s ammunition manufacturing capacity to 2,000,000 shells per annum by the end 2025.
Ukraine has been trying to increase its own ammunition production for years to become more independent of Western partners.
Ukroboronprom stated that by the summer of 2023 it had already mastered production of 82mm mortar mines and 122mm, 152mm, and 152mm artillery rounds as well as 125mm tank shells.
Media reports earlier stated that Ukrainian officials hoped to begin production of “desperately required” NATO-standard artillery rounds 155 mm in the “second half” of 2024, at the latest.
Despite its domestic efforts, the Ukrainian Army still relies on partners to supply 155 mm rounds, as European countries combine forces to purchase the rounds outside Europe.
The U.S. opened a new facility in May last year to produce 155mm munitions for Ukraine, and increased production in existing factories.
After the Russian invasion of February 2022, Ukraine began actively developing their missile program.
A senior adviser to Donald Trump said that Ukraine needed to be “realistic in its goals for war” and added that the peninsula of Crimea, which was occupied by Russia, was “gone.”
British defense intelligence estimates that Russia has suffered more than 696,00 losses since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
The memorandum will establish over 100 industrial park across Ukraine, affecting the lives of 2,5 million citizens and helping to create “hypermodern” cities.
“The dialogue between the President Zelensky, and President-elect Trump, has already been established,” Sybiha stated in Kyiv during a press conference held with Josep Borrell, chief diplomat of the European Union.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced on November 9 that Ukraine had attacked seven Russian regions, including Tula Oblast, with 50 drones. Moscow claimed to have shot down all fifty drones, two of which were over Tula Oblast located south from Moscow.
Syrskyi stated that the targets included more than 4,000 Russian soldiers, 221 pieces radio equipment and 129 artillery system.
According to the Telegraph, the U.S. will supply weapons to Ukraine in order to prevent Moscow from relaunching the war. The sources said that in exchange for the weapons, Ukraine would agree to not pursue its ambition to become a member of NATO for 20 years.
