According to Yurii Bielousov, the Head of the Department for Countering Crimes Committed in the Conditions of Armed Conflict at the Office of the Prosecutor General, Ukrainian law enforcement has gathered evidence of the execution of 93 Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian soldiers on the battlefield. This information was reported by UkrInform.
Bielousov stated that the majority of these executions occurred this year, with the trend beginning in November of last year when the treatment of Ukrainian prisoners by Russian military personnel significantly worsened. He also revealed that 80% of the executions took place this year.
The Head of the “war department” also shared that on 3 October, new information surfaced on social media about the execution of another Ukrainian prisoner of war. A video of the possible execution was circulated on Telegram channels, and a criminal case was immediately registered in collaboration with the Main Investigation Department of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Furthermore, on 1 October, reports emerged on Telegram channels about the alleged shooting of 16 Ukrainian soldiers by Russian troops. As a result, Ukraine has launched a criminal case under part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder by the Russian military.
