**Ukrainian Reporter and Soldier Killed on Front Lines**
Artur Shybalov, a former cameraman and editor at PTV UA channel, has been killed while fighting in Russia’s Kursk Oblast. He was 25 years old.
Shybalov’s mother, Tetiana Shybalova, announced his death on Facebook on March 20. She wrote that her son had planned to become a filmmaker and writer, but instead joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces after turning 25.
**Proud Brother Speaks Out**
Shybalov’s older brother, Yevhen Shybalov, is also a journalist who was captured by Russian forces in 2022. He wrote on Facebook that Artur was mobilized soon after turning 25 and served in the airborne assault troops. “I have never admired and been so proud of my brother as I was during those sadly short months,” he said.
**Dreams Cut Short**
Shybalov himself had dreamed of becoming a writer since childhood. He posted on Facebook about his struggles to get published, but unfortunately, his writing career was cut short by his decision to join the military.
**Media Worker Killed in Action**
According to the Institute of Mass Information, Artur Shybalov became the 101 person on the list of media workers killed by Russia while fighting for Ukraine. His death is a tragic reminder of the risks faced by those who serve their country and report on its conflicts.
