Ukrainian Special Forces liberate Kruhliakivka paving the way for enhanced defence of Kupiansk

The at the Ministry reported that liberated Kruhliakivka, a village in , from Russian invaders. They also boosted defenses near Kupiansk, a critical city.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of , Ukraine’s Special Forces (HUR), liberated Kruhliakivka village in Kharkiv Oblast against Russian invaders.
The operation to regain the control of the critical defensive zone near the city Kupiansk was conducted from 7 to 14 October.
Russian troops captured Kupiansk in February 2022, at the start of the large-scale . It was a vital part of the military supply chain, acting as a transit area for military personnel, equipment, and weapons coming from towards Russian troops near Izium, Ukraine.
In September 2022 the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched an offensive and liberated Kupiansk. This forced the Russians into retreat and pushed them east beyond the Oskil River.
In the summer 2023, Russian troops launched another offensive on the Kupiansk Front, but progress was slow, despite their size.
By the fall of 2024, however, the Russian army had managed to approach Kupiansk from a distance that was threatening. The city is constantly under fire, and most residents have left the city before the evacuation order.
The intelligence agency reported that “due to the professional, brave actions of HUR special forces in Kruhlyakivka, the Russians lost more than a whole platoon of infantry – invaders were eliminated in close-combat.”
During the assault, Ukrainian Special Forces managed to capture Russian Soldiers and gather vital intelligence data.
The HUR claimed that the enemy had been driven out of the region and the routes taken by the occupiers were mined.
Earlier, Russian troops advanced to within four kilometres of Kupiansk. The has continued to destroy the occupying forces, but the fighting dynamics pose a danger to civilians in this area.
In order to effectively defend the land, the Ukrainian forces needed to evacuate as many civilians as possible.
