UK to Avoid Direct Military Involvement in Ukraine Conflict
The UK has said it will not send troops to support Ukraine “at this time”. This was announced by UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy at a meeting with other top diplomats from the G7 group of countries.
Lammy stated that Britain’s commitment to avoiding direct military involvement in the war between Russia and Ukraine remains strong. He emphasized this during talks with international media outlets.
The UK has already promised significant financial support to Ukraine, committing £12.8 billion or $16.2 billion. It also plans to give £3 billion ($3.8 billion) each year for as long as it is needed to help the country’s military efforts.
There were earlier rumors that Britain and France might send troops to fight alongside Ukrainian forces. However, these have been dismissed by both countries’ leaders.
