Israeli Military Opens New Crossing to Gaza Strip
The Israeli military has opened a new crossing, Kissufim, in the south of the Gaza Strip. This comes as the US gave Israel 30 days to increase aid to the strip or face reduced military support.
Aid Trucks Enter Gaza
Despite the new crossing, there is still not enough aid entering Gaza. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (Ocha) says that on average, only about 40 trucks enter the strip per day.
Israel Blames UN for Aid Delays
Israel disputes Ocha’s figures and blames the UN for failing to deliver aid. They claim that hundreds of pallets of supplies are waiting to be picked up by aid agencies on the Gaza side of the border. However, the UN rejects this claim, saying it is Israel’s responsibility as the occupying power to facilitate the safe passage of aid inside Gaza.
US Arms Supplies to Continue
Despite Israel crossing most of America’s red lines, it’s unlikely that the White House will cut off arms supplies to Israel. The US has given Israel 30 days to increase aid to Gaza or face reduced military support.
