Sexual Violence Ukraine’s War: A Growing Concern

The United Nations in Ukraine (HRMMU) has documented 376 cases of sexual violence during ‘s war against Ukraine. The report, released November 25, is a disturbing reminder of the human cost of this conflict.

Most are men, with 262 reported cases, many of whom were tortured while held captive on or in Russia. Women and children have also been affected, with 104 women and 12 children – 10 girls and two boys – being victimized.

The mission has condemned the use of sexual violence as a weapon against civilians and prisoners of war. In , Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Sergiy Kyslytsya told the Security that Russia uses this tactic to harm its enemies.
