**UN Nuclear Agency Condemns Attacks on Ukraine’s Energy Grid**
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has passed a resolution condemning attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. However, the resolution did not name Russia as the perpetrator.
On November 28, Russian forces launched drones and missiles that targeted Ukraine’s power grid. This was just one of many attacks on residential areas and civilian infrastructure by Russia. The IAEA called an emergency meeting to address these attacks.
**Nuclear Facilities at Risk**
The attacks struck electricity sub-stations connected to three nuclear power plants. These sub-stations are crucial for maintaining cooling systems that keep the nuclear fuel safe. If not properly cooled, the fuel can overheat and cause a disaster.
**UN Vote**
Twenty-two countries supported the IAEA’s resolution, while 10 abstained. Russia and China voted against it. Unlike previous resolutions, this one did not explicitly name Russia as the perpetrator of these attacks.
