**North Korea Producing Ballistic Missiles for Russia Fast**
North Korea is making ballistic missiles for Russia to use against Ukraine faster than thought, a researcher said. Jonah Leff, from the Conflict Armament Research group, told the UN Security Council on Dec. 18 that his team had found evidence of North Korean missiles used in Ukraine within months.
**Missiles Found in Ukraine**
Researchers examined four North Korean missiles recovered in Ukraine in July and August. One missile had marks showing it was made in 2024. This is the first public proof of North Korean missiles being produced and used in Ukraine so quickly.
**Russia’s Support from North Korea**
North Korea has been supporting Russia’s war against Ukraine. They have given Russia ballistic missiles, artillery ammunition, and even soldiers. Ukraine’s military intelligence says Russian forces have launched at least 60 North Korean missiles.
**Missile Accuracy Low**
The accuracy of the North Korean missiles is not very high. The technology used to make them is outdated. Andrii Cherniak, a spokesperson for Ukraine’s military intelligence, said this in an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
**Western Components Used**
Some components found in the missile debris did not come from North Korea and were made as early as 2023. This shows that despite sanctions on North Korea, they can still produce and supply ballistic missiles quickly.
**Russia-North Korea Relationship**
Russia has a close relationship with North Korea. They signed a strategic partnership pact in July, and North Korea has sent over 10,000 soldiers to aid Russian forces in Ukraine.
