**U.S. and G7 Countries Pledge $50 Billion to Ukraine**
The U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that a new loan of $50 billion will help Ukraine pay for emergency services, hospitals, and other important things. This money will be provided by the G7 countries.
The World Bank will send this money to Ukraine right away so it can be used for urgent needs. The United States is giving $20 billion of this money. Other European countries, like France, Germany, and Italy, are also contributing a total of $19.4 billion.
Canada, Japan, and the United Kingdom are adding smaller amounts: $3.7 billion, $3.07 billion, and $2.9 billion respectively. These countries have frozen over $300 billion in Russian assets, but can only use the annual income from these funds, which is about $3.2 billion.
This money will be used to back the $50-billion loan. The majority of Russia‘s frozen assets are located in Europe.
