US announces new sanctions on Chinese and Russian drone producers used in Ukraine

The ‘s Office of Foreign Assets Control announced new sanctions on October 17 against two Chinese entities, one company and one Russian national involved in the production of Russian Garpiya Drones used to attack Ukraine.
Reuters reported that in September, Russia had secretly set up a production and development program in for the Garpiya drones which would be used in the Ukraine war.
OFAC stated that the two Chinese companies, Limbach and Redlepus, have been working together with IEMZ Kupol – a subsidiary owned by the Kremlin-owned Almaz-Antey weapons company – to create these drones.
Artem Yamshchikov, a sanctioned Russian citizen, is the owner and operator of TSK Vektor which assists in the procurement for the entities mentioned above.
Bradley Smith, Treasury official, said that Russia increasingly relies on foreign professionals’ expertise and sophisticated technologies to maintain its weapons program and advance the campaign against Ukraine.
“We will continue disrupting the networks that allow Russia to acquire and use these advanced weapons.”
China has declared itself neutral in the Russia/Ukraine conflict, but has also deepened its economic ties with Moscow while supporting the country against Western sanctions.
Beijing is also one of the leading suppliers of dual-use products to Russia’s defense industry.

Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, wrote on X that Greece is ready to continue to meet Ukraine’s most urgent defence needs.
