US citizen claims two-year spying activity against Ukraine

Daniel Martindale, a citizen of the United States, appeared at a press in Moscow 2 November, where he alleged that he had provided with Ukrainian coordinates since 2022.
On 2 November, the state news agency RIA Novosti announced that Russian security forces had rescued US citizen Daniel Martindale “from territory controlled by Ukrainian armed force.”
According to the Martindale has been providing Moscow coordinates of Ukrainian military installations since 11 February 2022.
Martindale, at a press conference in Moscow by the Russia Today group, said that he has been “doing everything” to “save the lives of ” and “secure a future for Russians in Ukraine,” and expressed his desire to continue this.
Reuters reports that the US Embassy has not yet made a comment on the Martindale Case, which was not previously reported in the media.
Martindale displayed his passport at the press conference, and requested Russian citizenship. He stressed that he wasn’t coerced, and expressed confidence that “Russia would win in Ukraine.”
Martindale, according to his VKontakte profile on social media, was born in 1991. He studied at a private Indiana university. The profile states that he speaks Russian and Polish. It also lists his Polish and Chinese telephone numbers. Photos from 2018 show him competing in international student sporting events in Vladivostok in Russia. In 2020, he appears to have lived in .
The profile describes him a libertarian, who has shown an interest in the case involving former Khabarovsk Governor Sergei Furgal. He also appears to be a supporter of the Free Christian Church Palowice in Poland. His last VKontakte posting was made on 28th February 2022, just four days after Russia invaded Ukraine.
