Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the State Department, said that the United States is coordinating a response with more than 50 partner nations in response to North Korea’s military presence near Ukraine.
Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the State Department, announced at a press briefing on November 7 that the United States consults with its allies about North Korean troop deployments in Russia’s Kursk Oblast.
In October, Ukrainian intelligence reported that approximately 11,000 North Korean soldiers are currently training in eastern Russia in preparation for possible combat operations against Ukraine. South Korean intelligence confirms that Russia is preparing special forces from North Korea to be deployed in Ukraine.
CNN reported on 29th October, citing Western intelligence officials, a small contingent North Korean military personnel was already present in Ukraine. The number is expected to grow.
The Washington Post reported on the fact that Putin’s regime would offer Kim Jong Un financial compensation as well as military technology and international attention for military support.
Matthew Miller, the spokesperson for the US Department of State, said that the response to Russian aggression in Ukraine goes beyond unilateral US actions. He noted that it represents “a reaction we’ve organised on behalf more than 50 countries.”
