**US Changes Policy on Ukraine’s Missile Strikes**
American officials have made a decision to let Ukrainian forces use American-supplied missiles to strike deeper into Russian territory. This includes the Kursk Oblast, where North Korean troops have been helping Russia.
North Korea sent around 10,000 soldiers to aid Russia in October. They engaged in combat with Ukraine’s military for the first time at the beginning of November. US officials want this new policy to stop North Korea from sending more forces and disrupt Russian operations.
**Ukraine Can Now Use Long-Range Missiles**
US President Joe Biden made this decision on November 17. This means Ukrainian forces can now use missiles that can travel up to 300 kilometers, much farther than before. Earlier, they could only hit targets within an 80-kilometer range.
This policy shift was possible because Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, emphasized that actions speak louder than words. He said the “missiles will speak for themselves.”
**Russia and North Korea React**
Russian President Vladimir Putin previously warned that Western authorization of long-range strikes on Russian territory would be seen as direct participation by NATO countries in the war.
North Korean soldiers were deployed to aid Russia’s efforts in Ukraine, but it’s not clear if this new policy will change their involvement.
