**US Judge Halts Trump’s Plan to Shut Down Voice of America**

A US judge has stopped the Trump from shutting down the Voice of America (VoA). This means that the 1,300 staff members who were put leave earlier this month will not be fired.

The judge, J. Paul Oetken, made this decision after a was filed by VoA staff, unions, and Reporters Without Borders last week. The group argued that the Trump administration did not provide enough reason shutting down the US Agency for Global (USAGM), which oversees VoA.

VoA is a government-funded media outlet that broadcasts in almost 50 languages around the world. Its employees are happy with the judge’s decision, saying it will allow them to continue their work.

“This ruling presents another obstacle to President Trump’s plans to dismantle USAGM,” said Clayton Weimers, executive of Reporters Without Borders USA.
