U.S. lawmakers have asked three to assess the risks of stopping aid to and Russia winning the war.

The request comes as President-elect Donald has hinted at reducing help to Ukraine when he takes in January 2025. This puts more pressure on Ukraine, which is struggling against Russia’s full-scale invasion for almost three years.

Lawmakers from both the and of Representatives want a report on what would happen if the U.S. stopped sending military and economic aid to Ukraine, or if Russia won the war. They also want to know how this would affect the U.S.’s own security and permission to fire missiles into Russia.

The lawmakers are also concerned about how a Russian might encourage other countries like , Iran, or North Korea to take action against the U.S.

This request comes just after the House of Representatives passed the next year’s defense budget. The Senate is expected to vote on the bill soon.

The report will be made during a transition period between President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump’s administration.
