During his visit to Kyiv the US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced a new $400-million military aid package for Ukraine.
After meeting with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on 21 October in Kyiv, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the United States would allocate an additional $800,000,000 specifically for the production and development of Ukrainian drones.
Drones are essential in modern warfare. They provide advantages such as real time reconnaissance, precision targetting, and the capability to strike deep behind enemy line. Ukraine produces the majority of its drones at home and has increased its production since Russia’s full-scale invasion. Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian president, has set a goal to manufacture at least 1 million drones per year.
Lloyd announced $400 million in military aid for Ukraine on his fourth visit to Kyiv, as US Defense Secretary.
The Pentagon has revealed that the new package of aid for Ukraine will include
Ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems
* 155mm & 105mm artillery ammunition;
* Mortar systems and rounds in 60mm, 81mm and 120mm;
* Tube-launched, optically tracked, wire-guided (TOW), missiles
* Javelin anti-armor systems and AT-4;
* M113 Armored Personnel Carriers
* Satellite communication equipment;
* Small arms ammunition
* Grenades, training equipment and other weapons;
* Demolition equipment and munitions
* Equipment to protect critical infrastructure in the nation;
* Services, training, spare parts, ancillary products, and transportation.
