US President Joe Biden congratulated Georgian Cadets for successfully graduating from US Coast Guard Academy.
New London was the location of the graduation ceremony. The Georgian graduates Nikoloz Tvildiani, and Sandro Stazhadze were awarded diplomas.
Tvildiani Stazhadze received support from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia to study at USCGA.
The American side invited the Head of MIA Border Police Col Nikoloz Sharadze and the Director for the Coast Guard Department CAPT Ramaz Papidze to attend the graduation ceremony at New London, Connecticut. Joe Biden presented diplomas along with Nikoloz Sharadze, Ramaz Papidze and Nikoloz Sharadze to the Georgian graduates at the American Academy.
Nikoloz Tvildiani, Sandro Stazhadze and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia are the first cadets to be sent to the USCGA. After completing the undergraduate program successfully, they will join the Georgian Coast Guard.
The USCGA graduated 240 cadets this year. Among seven foreign graduates were two Georgian cadets. The USCGA ranks among the top ten US military academies. In 2017, the MIA participated in the USCGA selection process for the first ever time. Only Nikoloz Tvildiani, Sandro Stazhadze and Nikoloz Tvildiani were able to pass the competition four years ago and obtain the right to study in USCGA.
