North Korea Sends 10,000 Troops to Russia
The Pentagon has confirmed that North Korea has sent 10,000 troops to Russia. These troops are taking part in combat in the western Kursk Oblast region.
The US government is warning of an escalation in Russia’s war on Ukraine. The North Korean soldiers have been deployed to the war zone and are fighting against Russian forces.
According to Vedant Patel, a spokesperson for the North Korean government, most of the troops were sent to the far west of Kursk Oblast where they have started engaging in combat operations. The Russians have been training these troops in artillery, UAVs, and basic infantry operations.
The effectiveness of the North Korean troops will depend on how well the Russians can integrate them into their military. Experts believe that this new force could be replacing Russian soldiers who were injured or killed in the war.
Clashes between Ukrainian and North Korean troops are currently taking place, according to Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, Rustem Umerov. President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed that North Korean troops have suffered casualties, but he did not specify the number.
This is a developing story and we will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
