On February 12, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent met with Volodymyr Zelensky Kyiv. During the meeting, Bessent handed over a draft of an agreement between the two countries on critical minerals.

The agreement aims to allow U.S. companies to access Ukraine’s rare mineral reserves in exchange for continued support from Washington. This is in line with previous statements by Ukrainian President Zelensky, who said he was open to such an arrangement.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his interest in the agreement and promised that his team would work quickly to finalize it. He also thanked the U.S. for their support and to Ukraine.

This meeting is significant as it marks the first time a representative from the new U.S. has met with Ukrainian officials since ‘s return to the White House.
