**US, UK, and Australia Impose Sanctions on Russian Cyber Company**
The United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia have imposed sanctions on a Russian cyber company called Zservers. The US Treasury Department said that Zservers supported the LockBit group in carrying out mass ransomware attacks.
Zservers is a company that provides hosting services to hackers. It has been accused of helping the LockBit group, which has carried out thousands of cyberattacks in the US and Europe. These attacks have resulted in billions of euros in losses.
The sanctions against Zservers build on previous penalties imposed by the three countries on LockBit leaders. The US Treasury official said that ransomware actors rely on third-party network service providers like Zservers to carry out their attacks.
**US Targets Russian Nationals**
The US has targeted two Russian nationals, Alexander Igorevich Mishin and Aleksandr Sergeyevich Bolshakov, who are administrators of Zservers. Their assets have been frozen, and they are prohibited from financial transactions with institutions or individuals in the US.
Other countries may also be exposed to sanctions if they do business with Zservers.
**UK Criticizes Russia**
The UK has criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin for allowing cybercrime to thrive in his country. The UK Foreign Secretary said that it was no surprise that the most unscrupulous extortionists and cyber-criminals were operating from within Russia’s borders.
**US Has Imposed Sanctions Before**
This is not the first time the US has imposed sanctions on Russian hackers and cybercriminals. In fact, the US has previously targeted Russian hacker networks and cybercriminals for their involvement in various forms of cyber warfare.
