**US Vice-President JD Vance Criticizes Ukraine’s Zelensky**
In a surprising move, US Vice-President JD Vance sharply criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting at the Oval Office. The attack was a stark contrast to the usual diplomatic approach of US vice-presidents.
Vance accused Zelensky of being too focused on winning elections and not doing enough to end the war with Russia. “What kind of diplomacy, JD, you are speaking about?” Zelensky asked, taken aback by Vance’s harsh words. Vance shot back, “I’m talking about the kind of diplomacy that’s going to end the destruction of your country.”
Vance also accused Zelensky of campaigning for Democrats during the 2024 presidential election. The Ukrainian leader had visited a munitions factory in Pennsylvania and met with Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
The criticism drew broad support from Republicans, including Senators Lindsey Graham and Tommy Tuberville, who suggested Zelensky should resign. However, not everyone was pleased with Vance’s approach. Congressman Mike Lawler called the meeting a “missed opportunity for both the United States and Ukraine”.
**Vance’s Role as Trump’s Attack Dog**
This is not the first time Vance has taken on foreign leaders. He had previously spoken out against European democracy, accusing leaders of censoring free speech and failing to control immigration. This stance has put him at odds with many European allies.
Some see Vance’s actions as a deliberate attempt to establish himself as Trump’s attack dog, going further than the president in his criticism of foes. Others believe he may be freelancing, already planning for an election campaign in 2028 when Trump will no longer be able to run for president.
Whatever the reason, Vance’s emergence as a vocal critic of US allies has raised eyebrows and sparked debate about his role within the administration.
