Vera Yurova said that the future of Georgia and the path towards the European Union is in the hands its citizens and leaders, from the very beginning.
Yurova believes that it is important that political leaders reduce polarization and hold elections in a peaceful, inclusive environment.
“The future, including the path towards the European Union, of Georgia is in the hands and leadership of its citizens from the beginning to the end.” It is important that leaders engage positively with citizens and reduce polarization before the parliamentary election. “Elections should take place in a peaceful, inclusive environment,” she said.
Yurova said that the European Union would continue to monitor the country‘s progress. Eurova said that the European Union’s door remains open to Georgia. However, she stressed the importance of complying with the principles of European Union.
“Real progress along the European road depends upon democratic and sustainable reforms in line with key principles of European Integration. The [EU] enlargement is also centered on protecting political diversity, human right, an active civil society, and independent media.
We are open to supporting the country in its reforms, but we will condemn any actions that undermine democracy, human right and the rule of Law. “All this is to the benefit of Georgians”, said Yurova
