Russian Oil Depot on Fire After Drone Attack
A major fire broke out at an oil depot in Russia’s Smolensk Oblast early on December 31. The fire was caused by a drone attack, which led to fuel spilling from the facility.
The oil depot is located over 300 kilometers north of the Ukrainian border. Ukraine has been carrying out long-range drone attacks against Russian military and fuel facilities throughout the year. These attacks have disrupted Russia’s fuel and ammunition supplies.
Videos shared on social media showed massive flames engulfing the facility in Yartsevo. Local residents heard powerful explosions around 3:40 local time, followed by the sound of a drone buzzing.
This incident is just one example of the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Both sides have been carrying out nightly attacks on each other.
