Hungarian PM Supports Georgia in EU Dispute
Hungary’s Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán, met with the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili. He reaffirmed Hungary’s support for Georgia in its dispute with the European Union.
The meeting took place at the Carmelite Monastery. Hungarian government spokesperson Zoltán Kovács shared information about it on social media. He said that Orbán emphasized the need for Brussels to stop attacking Georgia and for funding of opposition groups by the EU to cease.
According to Kovács, Orbán also said that Georgia is ready to join the EU. He believes its accession should happen as soon as possible. The leaders agreed that Georgian-Hungarian relations are built on common values like cultural heritage and a commitment to peace.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of strengthening business and investment ties between Hungary and Georgia. He wants bilateral trade to match the strength of their political relationship.
