Lithuanian customs officials intercepted supplies on their way from Kaliningrad, Russia to Moscow and diverted them to Ukraine.
Business Insider reported that Lithuanian customs officials intercepted several shipments of military equipment and camouflage gear on their way from the Russian exclave Kaliningrad to Moscow. They diverted the cargo to Ukraine. According to a report from Lithuanian customs dated October 7, the interceptions occurred between 27 September and 02 October.
Since the full-scale Russian invasion began in February 2020, Lithuania has become one of Ukraine’s most loyal allies. According to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy’s aid tracker (which tracks aid sent to Ukraine in percentage terms), Lithuania ranks third behind Denmark and Estonia. Lithuania, a NATO country bordering Russia is one of several countries that are preparing for a possible Russian aggression.
During inspections of train cars on Lithuania’s southwest border, officials found parcels containing nets and camouflage pants in four separate shipments. The cargo was classified military and required special permits for transportation.
