According to Russian media, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree that extended the visa-free travel privileges for Georgian citizens. The decree, which was signed on 10 October, allows Georgian citizens to stay in Russia longer than 90 days, including students or those who are arriving for work.
Previously, only certain categories Georgian citizens were allowed to stay in Russia for an extended period of time. Workers and students had restrictions. The extension is effective immediately from the date of signature.
This follows the Russian government’s decision to lift visa requirements in the spring 2023 for Georgian citizens. This will facilitate entry for all Georgians, but excludes workers and students until now from the longer stay permitted by this new order.
