**Voice of America Journalists Sue Trump Administration**
On March 21, journalists from the Voice of America (VoA) filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration. They claim that the government unfairly shut down the US-funded news network.
The VoA has been providing news to people around the world for many years. But in March, President Donald Trump signed an executive order cutting funding to the US Agency for Global Media (USAGM). This agency oversees VoA and another news organization called Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL).
**Radio Free Europe Also Sued**
Earlier, RFE/RL sued the USAGM over the loss of grant funding. They argued that this move was against federal laws and the Constitution.
The lawsuit from VoA journalists includes six reporters and two other organizations: Reporters Without Borders and unions representing federal employees, journalists, and foreign policy staff in the US.
**Thousands of Employees Affected**
As a result of the funding cuts, over 900 full-time network employees were put on indefinite leave. More than 550 contractors also lost their jobs. This move has been celebrated by Russian propagandists who see free media as a threat.
The lawsuit claims that VoA journalists might face danger if they return to their home countries where they could be prosecuted. The Trump administration’s actions have been widely criticized, and many are calling for the funding to be restored.
