Ukraine’s Talks with the US Get EU Support
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has welcomed Ukraine’s talks with the US. She praised the talks and said they can lead to a peace agreement for Ukraine.
The US and Ukrainian delegations met in Saudi Arabia on March 11. The US proposed a 30-day ceasefire, pending Russia’s agreement. The US also agreed to resume military aid and share intelligence with Ukraine.
Von der Leyen said these are positive developments that can bring peace to Ukraine. She added that the EU is ready to participate in the negotiation process.
The delegations discussed various topics, including humanitarian efforts. They talked about exchanging prisoners of war, releasing detained civilians, and returning forcibly displaced Ukrainian children.
The EU’s support for Ukraine’s talks with the US is a big step towards finding a solution to the conflict. Von der Leyen reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to supporting Ukraine.
